iSeries Composite Generator (Magic xpa 3.x)

The iSeries wizard creates a Magic xpa component that access objects in iSeries.

To display this option in Magic xpa, add the following to the [CRR_INTERFACES] section of the Magic.ini file:

iSeries Support = Add_On\CRR\Wizards\CRRiSeries.ecf,InvokeWizard, iSeries


The following steps will guide you through the iSeries wizard:

  1. Access the composite generators by following the Main Wizard Module steps.

  2. From the Component Selection screen, select iSeries. Click Next.

  3. Fill in the Component Details Display screen. Click Next.

  4. In the Interface with an iSeries Server screen, enter the details about the host that you will work with. Click Next.

  5. In the Define the type of component screen, select one of the following:

    • Generic component – a component with standard iSeries connectivity programs.

    • Interface with native programs – a component that accesses a specific library. You can also select to include generic programs.

  6. Click Next.

    • If you selected Generic component, the Choose the generic programs screen appears.

    • If you selected Interface with native programs and the Include generic programs, the Choose the generic programs screen appears and then the Display Libraries screen appears.

    • If you just selected Interface with native programs, the Display Libraries screen appears.

  1. In the Choose the generic programs screen, initially, all of the generic programs will be selected. Decide which ones you want to leave as selected and which, if any, you want to remove. The generic programs are as follows:

    Displayed Name

    Description

    Access IFS File

    This will access an IFS file.

    Copy Spooled File

    This will save a spooled file to a database file.

    End Session

    This will end a session to the iSeries host.

    Execute iSeries Command

    This executes an iSeries command.

    Retrieve System Values

    When provided with a system value, this will be return the current value.

    Start Session

    This will start a session to the iSeries host.

  2. The Display Libraries screen displays the libraries that the user is able to access for this particular server. One library must be requested. Select a library and click Next.

  3. From the Choose the programs screen, select the programs that you want to use.

  4. Click the Parameters button to define and order the parameter list for a particular program. From the Defining Parameters screen, you can also edit or add new parameters.

  5. Click Finish to generate the iSeries component.
