Objective

Windows® 2003 has an improved authentication and authorization mechanism. Therefore, when you install Magic xpi on Windows 2003, you need to configure the Windows mechanism to allow Magic xpi to run on this platform.

Example

This technical note explains how to configure Windows 2003 to allow Magic xpi to run and to allow HTTP/Web Service calls using Magic xpi on Windows 2003.

To enable Magic xpi to run on Windows 2003:

  1. In the Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

  2. Click the Advanced tab, and in the Performance section click Settings.

  3. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab and select the second option to turn on the DEP for all programs and services. Then click Add and add the MgxpiStudio.exe, MgxpiMonitor.exe, MgxpiServer.exe, and the uniStudio.exe applications.

Note:

Verify that the boxes next to each .exe file are selected.

To enable HTTP/Web Service Calls using Magic xpi:

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage.

  2. Go to Services and Applications > Internet information service > Web Services Extensions. Then click Add new Web service extension.

  3. Enter a name that will identify the .dll extension that you will soon add.

  4. Add the MGrqispi.dll file, located in the <Magic xpi installation>\scripts\bin folder, to your IIS Web Server, and make sure you select the Allowed box to enable HTTP/Web Service calls.
