Using the ISAM Gateway (Magic xpa 3.x)
It is best to use the ISAM gateway when there are many insert and update operations. The ISAM gateway is quicker than the SQL gateway when it comes to insert and update processes.
To select the ISAM gateway:

Open the Magic.ini file.

Define the ISAM database in the SQL collection and the SQL database in the ISAM Library.

Use the Get File Definition function to retrieve the ISAM file property values of the SQL table and SQL table property values of the ISAM file.

Choose the fastest access method for the database file depending on the operation to be performed - Read, Insert, or Update.
Note: You can access the same IBM i database file by using the ISAM gateway or the SQL gateway.
