Using the Assist Utility (Magic xpa 3.x)

To use the Assist utility:

  1. Click the Assist button on the SQL Command dialog box. The SQL Assistor dialog box appears.

  2. Select a keyword from the Key Words list and press Enter to place the selected keyword in the SQL Command box. Continue the same for selecting column names, table names and operations from their lists.

You can view the table under either its Magic xpa name or its RDBMS name. By clicking the Flip button, you can toggle back and forth between the Magic xpa and RDBMS table names. Whether selected from the Magic xpa or the RDBMS name, the SQL statement shows the RDBMS name.

The Table box shows only tables that are defined in Magic xpa’s Data repository. However, it is possible to enter SELECT statements that access any available tables in the database, even if those tables are not defined in the Data repository.
