Runtime Initialization Features (Magic xpa 3.x)

The following initialization features are available to you only during runtime:

QSYSOPR Messages

The message issued to the QSYSOPR Message queue at gateway initialization and termination is placed in a message file. The MAGICMSGQ Message queue is located in the host library. The QSYSOPR message default delivery option is set to *DFT which means that messages requiring replies are answered with the default reply and no messages are added to the message queue. Other options – including *HOLD, *BREAK, or *NOTIFY – send Magic xpa for IBM i client messages to the message queue as follows:
Magic xpa for IBM i started in MAGIC400
– when the Magic xpa for IBM i client is started;
Magic xpa for IBM i ended in library MAGIC400
– when the Magic xpa for IBM i client is stopped.

Gateway and Host Version Synchronization

The MGHSTVER IBM i command displays an enumerated value that specifies the minimal version of the host library required by the gateway.

With the initialization of the gateway, Magic xpa compares the host library version with the minimal version required for the gateway. If the host version is out of date, a warning message is issued. You can suppress this warning message by setting the keyword HOSTSYNC=N in the DBMS Properties dialog.

The MGCLIENT Job Description Option

When the MGCLIENT job is evoked, it utilizes the MGCLIENT job description. You can evoke the user profile job description instead, by inserting the TCP_INI data area (*DTAARA), the *USRPRF directive in Column 80:
CHGDTAARA DTAARA(TCP_INI (80 10)) VALUE(USRPRF)
