Description

Quick Expression Editor (Magic xpa 3.x)

This editor provides a quick way to enter simple expressions without opening the Expression Editor. When you park on a property that requires an expression (such as the Init or Cnd properties), you can press the equal sign (=), which opens a text box where you can enter an expression. You need to press Enter to save your expression and close the Quick Expression Editor. ESC or F2 closes the Quick Expression Editor without saving the expression. Any other navigation action (such as arrows, tabbing, paging up or down, mouse clicks outside the edit box) saves the entered expression.

Note: This is available in any field that supports expressions.

When you have entered an expression and left the expression field, the new expression is automatically created at the end of the Expression list with its sequential number displayed in the expression column.

When you enter a new expression for an expression field that already has an expression assigned, the new expression is created and used, but the old expression is not changed or deleted from the Expression list.

If an error is found in the new expression, the Expression Editor is opened and the cursor parks on the newly created expression.

Exceptions:

  • You cannot enter a new line character in an expression.

  • You cannot run commands, such as F7, when the Quick Expression Editor is open.

Since version: Support for the Visual Studio-based Form Designer – Magic xpa 3.1
