Manual Database Configuration (Magic xpi 4.13)

This topic explains how to make manual configurations to work with specific databases when mapping data. There are two situations when these configurations are necessary:

  • When you need to open a database gateway in the configuration (Magic.ini) file.

  • When you need to add language support for the DB2/400 database if you are not using DB2/400 as your internal database.

Configuring Database Gateways

When you use databases to map data in Magic xpi, the database gateways must be open in the Configuration file (Magic.ini). When you select a database from the DBMS List that is not available in your system, you are prompted to update the Configuration file manually.

To update the Configuration file:

  1. Close all applications that are part of the Magic xpi Integration Platform. These include the Magic xpi Monitor, Magic xpi Server, and the Magic xpa Studio.

  2. Open the Magic.ini file. The Magic.ini file is in the Magic xpi x.x folder in the location where you installed Magic xpi. You can also access it from the Windows Start menu. Select Start > All Programs > Magic xpi 4.6 > Configuration File > Magic.ini.

  3. Find the section called [Magic_Gateways].

  4. Look for the line that includes the database you want to work with.

    • For Oracle, look for this line: ;MGDB13=mgOracle.dll.

    • For DB2, use: ;MGDB18=mgdb2.DLL. mgdb2.dll is the dll file for this database.

    • For ODBC databases, use: ;MGDB19=mgodbc.dll. mgodbc.dll is the dll file for ODBC databases.

  5. Remove the semicolon (;) in front of the line.

  6. After the equal sign (=) add the following path \Magic xpi x.x\Gateways\<name of .dll file> (do not delete the name of the .dll file in the line, it should be the last item in the path). In this example, x.x is the Magic xpi version you are working with.

  1. Save the file.
