Maintenance Tip (Magic xpa 3.x)

The Magic.ini file contains the declarations required for the server to run. Therefore, you should be sure to maintain it accordingly.

For example, you can use Client Access, Client Access Express, or NETSERVER to map a network drive, let’s say Q:\, to the IBM i IFS directory during development. Then you can specify /INI=Q:\Magic.ini in the Magic xpa development shortcut.

In this way, the Magic.ini file is shared between the IBM i server and the development machine.

Another option is to use the File Transfer Protocol, FTP, or other file transfer utilities to copy the client’s Magic.ini file to the IBM i IFS. The file must be transferred in binary format because the Magic xpa server looks for ASCII configuration files.

The Configure Magic xpa Server command, CFGMGCSVR, includes the option to edit the Magic.ini file using the IBM i-terminal-based editor, as explained in the Server Configuration Settings section.
