Windows Magic xpa client

The host library and Magic xpa database connection do not require that any licenses be installed on the IBM i server.

Native Magic xpa server for IBM i

The license procedure and the server license mechanism have been changed. There is no need to install Easycom licenses.

The new license mechanism for the IBM i server is identical to Windows and UNIX. It is based on the license.dat file and license broadcasting.

The valid license names for this version are:

• MGPART2 for the Magic xpa Partition Server

• MGENT2 for the Magic xpa Enterprise Server

• MGRIA for the Magic xpa RIA Server

License errors are shown in the server log file.

The following are recommendations regarding licensing:

1. Activate server logging during server configuration and initial tests.

2. Make sure that you have a valid license file set in the LicenseFile and LicenseName entries of the MAGIC400.ini file.

3. If you have multiple installations of the Magic xpa server on your system, maintain all the licenses in one directory.
