How to Use the XML Interface (Magic xpi 4.5)

XML configuration lets you send the configuration parameters in XML format using an XML interface in the step configuration.

To work with the XML interface:

  1. In the Studio, create a new flow (or open an existing flow).

  2. From the Toolbox pane, drag the required component into the main pane. The component's Properties pane opens.

  3. In the Properties pane's Interface property, select XML from the drop-down list.

  4. Double-click or right-click on the component and select Configuration from the context menu to open the Data Mapper. The Destination side of this dialog box contains the component’s XSD. You can select a Source that contains the configuration data that you want to map to the component’s XSD.

  5. Map the Source to the component’s XSD. The following Sources can be used to pass the configuration information:

    • Database

    • ODS and UDS

    • Variables

    • Flat Files

    • XML files

    • JSON files

  1. Click Save to confirm the configuration. You should make a note of the location of the generated files.

Note:

The first time you open a step that uses the XML interface, the Data Mapper screen will have an asterisk (*) in the header. This is the expected behavior. Even if you do not make changes to the screen, the step's configuration will be saved. For any subsequent openings of the screen, there will not be an asterisk.

You can also enter the configuration information by entering a Calculated Value.
