Find and Replace (Magic xpa 3.x)

In the Studio's Edit menu, the Find and Replace submenu provides the following options:

Find Reference (Ctrl+F) – You can find where various references are used in Magic xpa.

Replace Object – You can replace any repository object with another object of the same type. Park on the object you wish to replace and select this option. Note: You cannot replace a COM object.

Find Text (Ctrl+Shift+F) – Use this option to search for text that you entered in your project. This is different than the Locate feature (Ctrl+L) where you can search for both text that you typed in and text that appears in the interface. When you select this option, the Find Text dialog box opens.

  • Check Match case if you want the search to be case-sensitive.

  • Check Match whole word if you want only whole words that match.

  • Check Regular Expression if you want to use masking characters.

  • Click the >> button to refine your search, selecting which objects you want to search.

When the search is done, you will have a list of all references to the text in the Navigation pane. You can click on the results to go to the object. While you are working with the Find Result list, you can delete the items on the list if you want (F3, or Edit->Delete Line). This is useful when you are working on a long list; just delete the items as you fix them.

You can also see the find-reference results in the Form Designer. To do this, click the View menu and select Find Result. Since version: 3.2

Note:

The Find and Replace utility looks for the specified text only in broken properties. Properties that inherit the searched text will not be included in the search results.

Replace Text – Use this option to search and replace text in your project.

Save Find Result – When you park on the find result, you can select this option to save the result.

Print Find Result – When you park on the find result, you can select this option to print the result.
