Find-Reference Results (Magic xpa 3.x)

Results for a find-reference are displayed by repository name in the Find-Reference option of the Navigator pane's find-reference section. The cross-reference tabs can display separate lists that let you browse the results of the last two find-reference operations.

You can also see the find-reference results in the Form Designer. To do this, click the View menu and select Find Result. Since version: 3.2

Each object is displayed with the following information:

  • Repository name

  • Entry name

  • Entry number – in brackets

  • For data sources – in brackets the Access and Share mode, such as W W for Write, Write

You can click the last node (the node which has no other nodes) to display the corresponding repository in the Magic xpa workspace and park on the selected entry.

Found references have the following characteristics:

  • You can delete a find-reference result.

  • You can issue a find-reference search from any result entry.

  • When the find-reference search has been completed, automatically the Navigator pane opens with the find-reference result. The result is highlighted in grey.

  • When the project is closed, the find-reference results are stored in the user's personal directory by project name and file extension (.xref). This file is in a binary format.

  • You can save the result as a text file by parking on the result and selecting Edit > Find and Replace > Save Find Result.

  • You can print the result by parking on the result and selecting Edit > Find and Replace > Print Find Result.
