Description

Engine Management (Magic xpi 4.13)

Magic xpi 4.x server processes (engines) are fully managed using the Space. Each engine waits on the Space for management instructions in a similar way to flows waiting for flow invocation requests. In each of the engines, a dedicated management thread is responsible for consuming and handling the management messages. The engine itself is also responsible for updating its operational status to the Space for recovery and maintenance purposes.

Management messages enable administering the engines through the Space. Example messages that engines can handle include:

  • Add more worker threads

  • Terminate a worker or workers

  • Restart triggers

  • Shutting down

  • Provide status on running workers
