Direct Open Query (Magic xpa 3.x)

Use the Open Query File dialog box (Ctrl+H) to enter a full Open Query command.

Prior to running the Open Query command, be certain to run the Override Database File command, OVRDBF. After closing the task, there are two other commands that should be executed, the Close Database File command, CLOF, and the Delete Override Database File command, DLTOVR.

The following is a restriction to keep that you should keep in mind when using the Open Query Field dialog box:

• The file used in the SELECT statement cannot be updated directly. You can overcome this restriction by defining a Magic xpa link to the table of the SQL SELECT statement, see the SQLDEMO CTL file example in the Magic xpa directory or use the IBM i SQL gateway.

• The number of selected fields in the SELECT statement must be the same as the fields in the Main Source. You can create a dummy table in the Data repository with the required fields.
