Description

Database Meta-Data (Magic xpa 4.x)

Database meta-data can be defined and maintained throughout the Data repository. Every modification to the Data repository can be synchronized with the underlying database, assuming that the Change Tables in Studio setting is checked in the property sheet of the selected database.

Magic xpa does not optimize database structures or tune database properties. These tasks should be performed by the Database Administrator, DBA, with external tools. A new table created with Magic xpa is created in a generic form, and should be customized to better fit the production environment.

A table defined in the Data repository is a logical definition that is recognized by Magic xpa programs. In the database, the table can be displayed as a table or view. The CREATE TABLE statement includes several settings that do not relate to a table existing in Magic xpa. You may define several tables in Magic xpa that point to the same database object.
