Comparing the MGENT and MGRIA License (Magic xpa 3.x)
This Technical Note explains the changes made to the license mechanism as of version 1.8.
Until version 1.8 it was required to include both MGENT and MGRIA in the same license file (with the same s/n) in order to deploy a RIA application.
From version 1.8 onwards, only the MGRIA license is required.
Here are some questions that might arise:

Must we have the MGENT license in the same file with the MGRIA license?

Do we need an MGENT license for a RIA application?

Is the MGRIA license dependent on any MGENT license?
Version 1.8 and above provides the option to deploy only the MGRIA license to run a RIA application.
This means you can deploy a Rich Client application without using an MGENT license.
The MGRIA license can be used directly with the MgxpaRuntime engine (background).
This license is meant only for RIA requests, namely the enterprise server can serve only RIA requests.
(Please note that a Rich Client task calling a Batch task is still okay.)
Any other type of request (I/O, Web services, COM, EJB, Browser task, etc.) will not be processed by this MGRIA license.
For these types of requests you will need the MGENT license.
You can continue to use your existing MGENTx license to have the server automatically load an additional MGRIA license and therefore handle all types of requests. The MGRIA license will be automatically loaded if it exists in the same license file as the MGENTx license.
