Colors Settings (Magic xpa 3.x)

There are three different Color repositories (each appearing as a separate tab):

  • The Application Color repository includes all explicitly used colors. You can add new entries, which can be deleted or renamed.

  • The Runtime Internal Color repository includes colors that are used at runtime to display built-in screens, such as the environment setting dialog boxes and the Range/Locate dialog boxes. Like the Studio Color repository, you cannot add new colors and you cannot rename existing colors. However, the entries' color settings can be modified.

  • The Studio Color repository includes only the colors that affect the Studio screens. The developer cannot add new colors and cannot rename existing colors. However, the entries' color settings can be modified.

For each color entry you can set its name, foreground color, and background color. The Color repository can store an unlimited number of color values.

The Color repositories include the following columns:

Property

Description

#

The color identifier (#) used in the project. Magic xpa sets this column automatically.

Name

A textual description of the color’s function. Use it to give meaningful names to colors for ease of selection and maintenance.

FG and BG

Define the foreground and background components of the color.

To change the color of a foreground or background component, place the insertion point on the FG or BG you want to change. Then, zoom (F5) to the Color Assignment palette.

You can set a foreground or background color by selecting a fixed color. This is done by either selecting the color from the basic colors selection, by selecting any color from the gradient colors palette, by setting the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Luminance), by setting the RGB (Red-Green-Blue), or by selecting a system color.

Note that in order to select a color other than a system color, the system color must be set to blank.

You can make the color transparent by selecting the Transparent check box.

Platform specific: On mobile devices, you can define the opacity of a non-system color in the Alpha field. You can use this to set semi-transparent controls for mobile devices. The valid values are 0 to 255 where 0 means full transparency (equivalent to selecting the Transparent check box) and 255 (default) means full opaque. Since version: 2.5

Sample

A visual representation of the selected foreground and background colors.

From the Form Designer, you open the Color repository as a selection list where you can create, modify and delete colors by using the buttons at the bottom of the repository. The Delete button is enabled for the last entry in the list. Since version: 3.1
